Laboratorium is truly a special place. The design alone is worth the visit, a beautiful blend of historic character and contemporary aesthetics, creating a space that feels both unique and welcoming. The coffee selection is exceptional, with a wide range of carefully curated beans and brewing methods to explore. What makes the experience even better is the team: knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely passionate about coffee. They take the time to guide you through the different options and help you find something that matches your preferences. A place where both the coffee and the people make you want to come back.

Laboratorium is a must-visit for any coffee lover. Their experimental coffees are truly exceptional, with unique flavors and outstanding quality. Every time I'm in Cluj, this is my first stop. Easily the best coffee I've ever had—consistently amazing and always worth coming back for!

We went in for a coffee on arrival to Cluj and it was genuinely one of the best cups i've had. The interior architecture is a perfect mix of contemporary textural elements which contrast the surrounding historic shell. The coffee itself is bold in its flavour profile, and they explain their process well to you as you get it. The staff seem genuinely passionate about what they do. Further, they offered us suggestions for other spots to dine (and get coffee from) around the city, which was incredibly generous. I can't recommend coming here enough, I wish Iived right beside it.

Can I please give 10 stars? The coffee I’ve had was one of the best ever. The place looks great, it’s a very unique experience. I also had a quick morning bite which was delicious and surprisingly hearty.

I appreciate the professionalism and enthusiasm of the staff.

1. Am fost sincer impresionat de profesionalismul personalului. În particular, băiatul de la bar m-a făcut sa ma simt confortabil pe parcursul întregii interacțiuni, lucru care mi se întâmplă atât de rar în cafenele / restaurante. M-am apropiat de bar cu gândul de a comanda o cafea, împotriva politicii localului (care îți cere sa aștepți sa te conducă la masa, îți oferă un meniu, urmând apoi sa îți ia comanda). În loc sa fiu expediat pe un ton coercitiv la o masă (ceea ce se întâmplă în atâtea locuri), din vorbă în vorbă, în puține cuvinte, am fost invitat să iau un loc, și informat pe scurt despre procedura prin care urmează să mi se ia comanda. Foarte elegant, am rămas impresionat. Apoi, recomandările baristului au fost convingătoare și fluente, nu am avut impresia că îmi recită o poezie, nici ca încearcă sa îmi vândă un anumit produs (asa am ajuns sa și comand o cafea mai scumpă decât plănuiam când am intrat). În final, cand am primit cafeaua la masă, ca la alte localuri cu pretenții de "specialty coffee", am avut parte de o scurtă introducere / prezentare a cafelei. Dar, spre deosebire de restul localurilor amintite mai sus, nu am simțit jenă în timpul "prezentării", care a fost succinta și prietenoasă, nu am fost nevoit sa dau indulgent și aprobator din cap așteptând sa se termine. Nota 10.

2. Atmosfera și intenția localului sunt clare: cafea la cel mai înalt nivel, echipamente de top, stil de laborator. Estetica armonioasa da o stare de siguranță și profesionalism, un fel de senzație de "lucruri făcute cum trebuie".

3. Cafeaua în sine e bună. Se simte ca e preparata atent, cu accent pe calitate.

Singurul aspect negativ: preturile sunt destul de piperate. Dar probabil merită.

Great intellwxtual experience

Laboratorium is a must-visit when in Cluj. They offer an impressive selection of premium coffees, and the staff explain each one with genuine passion and expertise.

We especially appreciated the interior design. Every detail, from the furniture and cutlery to the glassware, felt carefully considered and contributed to a beautiful overall atmosphere.

The food was good, although it leans more toward brunch than breakfast. Personally, I would have liked to see a few more breakfast options on the menu. But the selection does change constantly so maybe we were just unlucky.

One area for improvement would be providing a bit more explanation of the dishes. Just as the staff enthusiastically guide guests through the coffee selection, a little more detail about the food would be helpful. The minimalist menu is elegant, but it can sometimes be difficult to understand exactly what to expect from a dish.

Overall, this is a place for a special occasion or a leisurely morning rather than a quick stop. If you have the time to slow down, enjoy excellent coffee, and appreciate thoughtful design, Laboratorium is well worth a visit.

A beautiful place with amazing coffee and service. The vibe here is unique. This might be a must if you love coffee. Also, it is pet friendly.
